Delete your account

Draft. BiteBooks has not launched, and this page still needs the company details and the registered copyright agent before it is binding on anyone.

You can delete your BiteBooks account and its data yourself. Nobody needs to approve it and you do not have to write and ask.

From the app

Settings, then Account, then Delete account. You will be asked to confirm twice, because it cannot be undone.

From the web

Sign in and the delete control appears on this page. If you cannot sign in, emailsupport@thebitebooks.com from the address on the account and we will do it for you.

What deletion does

• Your Bites are unpublished immediately and stop appearing in every feed.
• Your Google or Apple sign-in link and every device token are removed at once.
• Your handle, display name and bio are removed from your account record.
• Your saves, votes, follows and reading progress are deleted, along with the taste profile the feed had built from them.
• The content itself is hard-deleted after 30 days, which is the window for an accidental deletion to be reversed by contacting support.
• Records of which Bites were shown to which reader keep an opaque identifier that is no longer connected to a person. They are what tells a writer how many people finished a story.

Delete some of your data, and keep the account

You do not have to close the account to remove what you have put into it. Every one of these takes effect at once and needs nobody's approval.

• A Bite: open it, then Manage, then Delete. It leaves every feed the moment you confirm.
• A draft: the same control in the editor, under the word count.
• A comment: press and hold it, then Delete.
• Your reading history and the taste profile built from it: Settings, then Reading, then Clear reading history. The feed starts again from your chosen genres.
• Your handle, display name and bio: Settings, then Profile. Clearing a field removes it.

If something will not delete, email support@thebitebooks.com and say what it is. We answer within a day.

Before you go

Export your writing first. Everything you have published and every draft comes out as plain Markdown files with their metadata, in one download, and you do not need an account afterwards to read them.
